Fourth graders were able to screen for healthy teeth 100% of the time compared to examination by a dental hygienist.
Time to train fourth-graders: two 45-minute sessions
Reported measures from kindergarten Toothy Tigers:

  • 100% who completed post-test evaluation liked the program.
  • 96% commented that they liked working with a fourth-grader, learning how to
    take better care of their teeth, getting a bag of dental supplies, and working
    with the Dartmouth team
  • 81% said more time with their health coach would make the program better.

Reported measures from Brushy Beaver Health Coaches:

  • 40% loved the program, 40% liked it, 20% thought it was okay.
  • Comments on "What could make the program better?" "It was fun.  Surprised how well kindergarten students brushed their teeth." "Don't change anything.“ "More time.“ "Different flavor of disclosure tablets." "I liked it all.“ “Loved it – thank you a million times and more.”
