An Exploration of Clinician Perceptions of Patient Economic Status and Plan of Care: A Codman Card Study
Patient Population
- Average Age - 45 yrs (spanning 2 mos to 88 yrs); 41% male and 59% female
- Primary Care Physician - 90% of visits were with their PCP
(two out of the 12 clinicians were excluded from the data analysis because they were non-primary care).
- Types of Visits - 53% Acute, 33% Routine Follow Up, 6% Annual Physical Exam, 4% Referral, and 4% Other
- Diagnoses - 35% Acute infection, 31% Other, 18% Musculoskeletal, 18% Depression/anxiety, 12% CHD/HTN, 6% Diabetes, and 2% COPD/Asthma
- Payment - 53% had some type of public pay portion of their insurance, 45% had private insurance, and 4% unknown
